For values of "KA-THUNK" and "OW"

ikyrianIt's finally happened: I've been involved in a car accident that was a) not my fault and b) didn't involve a parked and/or unmanned car.
Before I get any further, let me reassure that I am fine, just a bit of whiplash.
It happened on my way to work, while I was cursing my fate at being stuck behind a school bus once again. After we had rounded the blind turn on Old Centreville Rd., it drove past a house that still had it's trash cans out on the side of the road. After the bus, and the taxi that was behind the bus drove by these cans, one of them decided that it needed to be in the middle of the street and rolled it's merry little way out in front of my car. I know you're thinking, "Good God, she's personifying objects again!", but I swear to you, it looked like it had made a choice. One moment it was on the side of the road, the other it was calmly rolling out into the street, neat as you please. Me, being me, and deciding not to hit the trash can, stopped the car. As I contemplated putting on my emergency lights and getting the trash can out of the road, I suddenly hear a "SCREECH" followed by "KA-THUNK" followed by "FUCK". Which was me, cursing my fate (and ultimately my sore neck) as my head was thrown forward, glasses flying off, and swinging back. Thank God for seatbelts, or my head would have been *in* my steering wheel, and that would've sucked.
Yeah, I knew it was Monday then.
