Otakon ni Ikinai desu. Instead, RenFest! ^_^

After much agonizing and wondering and asking/pestering/begging people for help and getting no results I've ultimately decided not to go to Otakon. (Very very sad, cuz how am I going to get my manga fix? Guess I'll have to just start buying it online.) Despite my attempts to get the ball rolling early, all came to naught and sadly SFF did not come through for me as promised. Which left me really irritated, but meh. Fine, whatever. Though I am a bit disgusted - in myself, you see. I'm disgusted in myself because I don't have the courage to just go by myself. Which is lame. Lame lame lame. Laaaameee. I'm almost 21 years old, I should have more courage than I do. I should be able to do something like this with little no problem. Get it all together and say fuck it to the rest of them. It's a lame excuse, but I was a bit hampered by, oh, being in another country. Ok, I really am irritated. Go figure. Because, what can I say? It's an overreaction. I overreacted and it's not nice, and it's not fair, but it's what happened. I would say that I haven't been so pissed off in a long time, but then I remember the whole Ashley white v. black debacle, and yeah. It would be a lie.

Although, anyone who's driven on I-95 in and out of Baltimore must feel my pain at the thought of doing it alone. Well, except for the people who do it everyday. Man do I feel sorry for them. Ew. All the times I've driven on I-95, no matter where I'm going, or which way I'm going, I've been exceedingly close to getting into some horrific car accident. Every. Single. Time. It's just luck that I haven't yet. No, really. (Though it will never compare to driving in England. Which I hope to never ever experience ever again with an inexprienced driver.)

Instead of Otakon, I'm hoping to get a group together for the Maryland RenFest during Fall break. Anyone with? I think it's about 2 hours from my house, which means it's four to five hour-ish from school. However, if we're lucky we may be able to either a.) stay at my house then go up, or b.) find a really cheap hotel. Decisions, decisions. Hmm. Well, we don't have to decide anything now, in fact might be better not to think this one too far ahead. Guess I'll just have to remember before fall break happens, ne?

I'm definitely planning on going. I've also invited Kasumi, a Tsuda-soon-to-be-RMWC-exchange student, to come with. I will probably have a car, so rides could be shared.

I had planned on going like the first or second weekend after school starts before things get very busy; esp. since I will only have about 1-1/2 weeks at home before I have to go to RMWC, I wanted to do fall break at home. But is the RenFaire still running thru the end of Oct?

Wait, you're going to Otakon? But back in January you said you weren't! *is confused* You know, honestly, I just really want one day there to shop like a mad fangirl. But if you're offering a ride (and after me driving last year, which was scary, I don't blame you) maybe I will go.

I thought RenFaire went all the way through to the beginning of November. And a lot of people are thinking of gonig, so Carrie has offered up her house for people to stay over. Ah.

No no no--you said you were going to the RenFaire, so I said I wanted to go with. And I'm fairly sure it doesn't go too far into the fall. Staying with Carrie sounds like more fun than driving an hour and a half to get that far north, though.

Hm, I wasn't too frightened by your driving. Tho' perhaps I was too exhausted to notice. ;-)

OOOOoooh. Yeah, that makes more sense. (i r a d0rk). Heh. Well, I just looked up the dates, and it goes all the way til October 23, rain or shine. I think Fall break falls before that? I could be wrong, I don't exactly remember.

And it's good that you might not remember my driving. Although, most of the bad stuff happened when I was leaving your house, so you wouldn't remember that. (^_^)>
