I think it's funny how people think that the phrase "That's like the pot calling the kettle black." and it's diminutives far too outdated for today's world. Though most of us don't actually use cast iron pots and kettles, a great deal of us still have pots and kettles, so the phrase isn't lost on us at all. However, what would be an age appropriate phrase like that? "That's like the PC calling the Mac a computer."? I mean, seriously. Until we actually stop using things like pots and kettle and have a highly advanced race in which we get all of our nutrients from pills QUIT BITCHING ALREADY. Thank you.

I find nothing wrong with the phrase "the pot calling the kettle black." I myself use supposedly antiquated phrases all the time, by George! Pish posh to all those who laugh at old sayings! :)
