blueherronflying: omg.
blueherronflying: just...wow...
blueherronflying: you know how there are somethings that happen and you always think, "that could never happen to me" and then, suddenly, it does.
blueherronflying: well, not to me, per se, but to my group. to the group of girls at reading from my school.
blueherronflying: to the houses that are supposedly secure, and nothing should happen in them.
blueherronflying: i wish you were really there to talk about this, but oh well.
blueherronflying: the house next to mine was robbed this evening at about seven. though no one was hurt, everyone's pretty shaken up about it.
blueherronflying: i mean, she lived on the first floor. i live on the first floor. something like that could happen to me!
blueherronflying: and everyone knows that these are the "American houses" where "those American girls" live.
blueherronflying: it could happen again....it could be my house next time.
blueherronflying: and I live on the first floor. and it could be me.
blueherronflying: makes me kinda glad I don't have my laptop here, really. glad that, by tacit agreement, karlene and I don't keep our shades open, ever.
blueherronflying: But...they know. I mean, they have to know.
blueherronflying: I don't imagine it's something that they did on a whim...the must have been there a couple of times to see the layout.
blueherronflying: Since we use the same houses every single time, these people could be waiting for years before they actually decide to do something.
blueherronflying: It makes me sick to think about it. How do I return to normal? Will just try to forget it? Or will I be jumping at shadows the whole time I'm here?
blueherronflying: Ugh.
blueherronflying: I don't even want to go to bed. How can I? I have the same living condition that Caroline does: I live on the ground floor with windows that face the street. Although the curtains are hardly ever open, it's not like we keep it a secret that there's a laptop in the room.
blueherronflying: *shudders* I need a drink.

Since security is now a top concern, will the administration at Reading do anything for you guys (a security system or whatnot)? I mean, obviously people can keep door and windows locked, but that doesn't seem to be enough. Did Reading give you guys safe boxes? Use them whenever you can (if you can) and put your laptops away and hidden when you're not using them. I don't think that the thieves will come back so soon after raising such a ruckus, but in the mean time, do what you can to keep your stuff safe!

I don't know. I doubt Rreading will actually do anything. And the houses do have security systems, it's just that us students can't turn them on when we know everyone's inside and ready to go to bed. Hopefully there will be a meeting today with Dr. Ivy that will help clear up concerns with everyone.

Beyond that, Karlene and I have decided to just hide our stuff within our room. We don't have anything like a safety deposit boxes, but we do have empty drawers which we put important stuff in!
