Oh, my God...
Nov. 27th, 2003 12:30 amA long time ago, Karlene and I had a rather strange conversation late at night which involved the speculation as to whether Ents (from LotR), were sexual at all, and if so, if they had slash relations. (After watching the Extened Edition DVD of TTT, I can say now, yes, ents are sexual. I think I would've known that if I had actually read the books...)
Anyway, after posting this to LJ, Mary had commented that there is probably a fanfic of Ent slash. And, dammit, she was right! Behold! Legolas/Ent slash fanfic~!

That's just fuckin' scary, man!

What I'd like to know is what's wrong with Ent slash? I love trees, have lived in an actual forest, and can totally understand why someone would write such a story. It's not my area of slash, but you know what? Sexual fantasies are nothing to laugh at. You may think the idea of elf/Ent slash is weird, but I can guarantee you there's someone out there that would think your fantasies are insanely funny/squicky/ridiculous. There's a saying about stones and glass houses, and it's a very useful one.

Date: 2003-12-04 01:31 am (UTC)The comment about "some randomly weird author" was referring to her initial reaction, not her current opinion. In fact, she said she now finds the story amusing. Also, why doesn't she have the right to be squicked by a pairing? She isn't saying that no one's allowed to write it, just that she disliked it at first thought.
In closing, be tolerant of other people's opinions and pay attention to _context_.
