I'm having serious car envy. Brandon just bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer.

As some of you may know, Sallie Mae sends a one time bill for each quarter.

Dad lost it, and thus hasn't been paying it.

I just found out.

NOW I understand why they've been calling about forebearance.

Really? I pay Sallie Mae monthly (not for me, for Jonathan's LC). Maybe you could ask Sallie Mae to send a monthly bill, so if you missed a payment, it wouldn't be such a big deal.

We're supposed to pay Sallie Mae monthly too...but they sent a bill with four payment stubs for the first quarter or so. And that's what Dad lost.

Oooh. This might sound like way too much effort, but what I do is rip the payment stubs apart, put each in an unsealed, stamped, addressed envelope, and stick a Post-It note on the front that indicates the day I want to mail it (e.g., mail by May 20).

That way, all I have to do is write the check when the time comes. If your dad pays it, just hand him a pen and his checkbook at breakfast once a month, and mail it yourself on the way to work.

See, that would have been the smart thing to do. However, I just gave it to my dad thinking he'd remember! Not so!

After this month's payment has gone through, I'm going to sign up for automatic payments so I don't have to worry about getting it in on time...

My dad lost my car registration in the mail. Guess who couldn't drive for a few days because of her expired tags? >:(

Sallie Mae also has a pay-online feature, where they email you a reminder to PAY UP NOW, BITCH, and you can do a bank transfer directly to them. I signed up for it because I always lose my stamps.

That's my next step actually - to transfer the money directly to them so I don't have to worry about it.
