Religion & Ethics
Jun. 3rd, 2005 12:30 amI was at the BBC website for religion today (bbc.co.uk/religion) and I noticed that they stuck their ethics section with the religious section. While I don't disagree that ethics is a large part of religion, I do however, feel that religion should not be a large part of ethics. Ethics should be something that all people conform to and have but not have it attached to any sort of religious belief.
I found it curious that the two seemed to be inseperable in the eyes of the BBC when, really, in today's world where a lot of people are agnostic or atheist, the two should be more separated. At least, a person's ethics should not solely rely on what their religion tells them, but what society tells them as well.
