Truck Issues
Mar. 10th, 2004 10:12 pmSo they finally figured out what was wrong with the truck: it was the security system. (The one everyone asks about when I pull out the "Silencer" and put it in a little port thingie-mabob near the bottom of the steering column. Basically, what it does it close the circuit that allows you to start the vehicle. Almost all of the vehicles we own now have this system with the exception of the '94 3000GT and the Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.)
Apparently, when that thing goes on the fritz, it takes out the ability to start the engine (which is what it's supposed to do). It seems like it just wasn't awknowledging the little chip thingie that you stick in the port thingie.
So my dad makes a few calls and talks to the various people at Battlefield Ford and Springfield. At one point he makes this strangled laughing sound and hangs up the phone. Then he comes to the living room where my brothers and I are watching the Cowboy Bebop movie and says:
"It costs three hundred dollars to put that system in...and it only takes five minutes to bypass it."
Way to go, Dad.
